Hello and welcome....

This is MAKiguitars, home of Comeback tours, the guitars of yesteryear that have been discarded in pieces, a shadow of their former selves, I love taking broken down '80s rockers and giving them a new lease of life! Right now I am specializing in original Kramer guitars from the '80s which means the Nightswan, Proaxe, Baretta amongst others. I am hopefully going to expand to encompass another very famous brand from the '80s however this is under wraps at the moment until I know more. You can also find four prototypes that I built, eventually these may turn into production guitars but right now I am concentrating on the Comeback tours which are currently Kramer however I may well expand to include Jackson/Charvel guitars as well. You can see my channel on youtube, this will expand over the coming months to include more movies and virtual tours of the guitars. The store will open around the end of September with any luck, I hope to be appearing at the Kramer Euro Expo but for now, www.youtube.com/makiguitars....

Priming

Priming

I still can't believe these bodies came out as well as they did. Mr Toasty and the last Baretta had hideous finishes that took some sanding to get rid of, now all three bodies have received their second coat of primer and will be ready for sanding and ironing out any imperfections before paint i...

Right my now arms are dropping off after preparing three Baretta bodies for priming and paint, every one had to be hand finished to ensure a smooth surface for the best possible results. Fools and their guitars

I managed to work on another Kramer Baretta over the weekend. The neck is an R5 banana headstock with matching colour but only after I removed the top layer of paint that someone had used to hide a repair. All of the black came away with plenty of hand sanding and the whole thing looked great ex...

Sun, sea and sanding

What a glorious weekend here! It was perfect weather to be out on the beach or lazying about with a cold beer but unfortunately I had to prepare two Baretta bodies for paint! The palm sander makes short work of the bodies especially Mr Toasty as that Baretta had a thick crust to get through to t...

Final show

Today marks my final day in University as I prepare for the final degree show which unveils two of my prototypes to my fellow art students! I can't believe that it has been three years worth of work and a total of seven months off in the second year due to illness, I was lucky to complete the de...

Biting the dust

Biting the dust

After two days hard work, the Baretta II champagne is finally finished. The guitar underwent extensive cleaning and preparation before being assembled once again. I decided not to refinish the guitar, keeping the original finish intact even though it has sustained honest wear and tear however th...
